Staycation: Museums Pt 2

I just couldn't fit everything into one day, so it all continued over onto the next. Luckily, it was also looking a bit more like spring.
And so we all made our way to....
The National Air and Space Museum.

It was beautiful, airy, and where the Natural History museum felt grand and cavernous, the Air and Space museum felt like an expansive greenhouse, full of light.
(Which didn't make for the best pictures with all the back-lighting)

But we managed :).

A few of the airplanes were down for refurbishing, including the Spirit of St. Louis.

This is the aircraft that originally made  the first flight from New York to Paris, and made the first media superstar, Charles Lindbergh.

The airplanes continued right over to the space section, where I was particularly enchanted by this one thing I found.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I got to touch the moon.

But enough about me. How bout more about my friends Apollo, Neil, and Buzz.

I must say that I felt quite small looking at all those involved in reaching the moon, but i was comforted that this was what their food looked like.
 They had tea!

But they also had a much more expensive looking camera than my little one.

Oh well.

We also ended up visiting the planetarium at the museum and seeing their Journey to the Stars program, which gave a lot of info about our sun and the stars that I had previously not known. What was great that they did mention is that our little solar system has quite a few millions of years left in it :). Also, no pictures were allowed, sorry :(.

But after all of that it was getting a bit late, and we were both feeling peckish. So we took off in search of some noms. On the way to finding a place, we did run into a few things.

 Like my favorite building.

Thankfully, though I could not buy it (I know, sad), it is going to be turned into one of the Trump properties, and will be open in 2016. So yay!!! I already talked the gentleman into agreeing to come back when it opens. So now I just have to wait........for a while.

Thankfully I didn't have to wait too long for food. We ended up finding a good pub right after we passed a street event (didn't know what it was at first).
Oh, and then some food!! Thank goodness; and you know that it started to rain right as we walked into the pub.

Yumyun.

2 out of 3 of those had vinegar on them, so good.

But after the food I realized how tired I was, the food gave both of us the iTIS, so it was whisked down the lane and into an awaiting taxi, back to the hotel (we ate dinner in :).
Night :)
