Belated Valentines

I don't tend to celebrate Valentine's on Valentine's Day. It's not that I'm against it, not at all, but everywhere that you could want to go it so crowded with couples trying to make the most of the day too. So the day of found us sharing a bottle of wine and some delicious nomnoms, but we did exchange gifts.

And that brings us to this last weekend.
Yes Wicked. He "surprised" (I seriously hinted) me with great tickets to see the show when it was in Baltimore.
So Friday saw us kicking off work early, dashing home toget hurriedly ready (me, not him, all he had to do was change). Then we took off, and arrived in Baltimore an hour later in time for our reservations at the Capital Grille.

If you haven't been, it is a great chain, and though the decor and food are great, it is the service that made the dinner.
I originally took the gentleman to dinner at the Capital Grille for his birthday, and I must say that the waiter just blew us away, and was the whole reason I came back time and again.

This time we had a slightly younger guy with us, who was no less lovely, but seemed a bit distracted (this could have been because I made the reservation for 3 p.m. which ran through the lunch hour too).
But anyway, to the important stuff.
I started with the Manhattan, which glowed amber in the light.
He dove right in to the asparagus soup (didn't even wait for me to get a photo).
The salads.
We sat and enjoyed those, we were taking it easy, and I mean, we did get there really early.

Then the real meal.
Bone-in Sirloin with Shalot Butter for him.
Steak au Poivre for me (my standby favorite).
And sides to share (they both involved bacon!!).
Followed by many tasting of the wines.
Still barely any people there, though by the time we decided on our desserts (yep) there were two very large parties seated and the place had started to fill up.
I tried, I tried so hard, but I wanted dessert.
Again with the no waiting.

But after that we felt like we needed to get up and shake our legs a bit.
I also saw the Urban Pirates boat, but I have plans for that later, so enough of that now.
Thankfully the Hippodrome was over a mile a way, so we hoofed it over ther (I found my favorite building) and made it with time enough to spare that I was able to get a cocktail.
It was called "the wizard", get it!!

And we sat down in our seriously wonderful seats!
Four rows up, 4!!!!! Best. gift. ever!

I didn't want toget the stink eye from anyone during the performance, and seriously wouldn't want to distract the performers, but let me just say that it was amazing.
I have seen Wicked before, with my mom in Los Angeles quite a number of years ago. And I did show up late that time :(
The cast this time were younger, Fiyero was a member of O-Town, really. It was just a different experience, and one of the reasons that Broadways are so watchable, no matter how many times they've been seen before.

It got out late, and I drove us back. We were both so sleepy.
It was some cuddle time with the pup and off to bed for me.

What is the best Broadway? I don't know, I was about to ask that. :)
